The MacArthur Causeway is the road that carries traffic between downtown Miami and South Beach, skimming low across Biscayne Bay on a raised span. This camera looks out over that crossing, with water on either side, cruise berths and port cranes to the south, and the palms and towers of Miami Beach waiting at the eastern end.

Why the Causeway? Few roads in America have a better backdrop. On one side sits the Port of Miami with its cruise terminals, on the other the islands of Biscayne Bay and their waterfront homes. The causeway is where commuters, holidaymakers, delivery trucks and rental convertibles all funnel into the same few lanes, framed by open water and skyline.

MacArthur Causeway highlights: As you enjoy the live view, be sure to look out for:

• Bay Boat Traffic: Watch tenders, sportfishers, jet skis and the occasional superyacht threading the channel beneath and beside the causeway span.
• Cruise Ship Departures: Large cruise hulls loom over the port side of the view, and their late-afternoon departures are hard to miss from this angle.
• Skyline Light Changes: Downtown Miami's towers shift from white glare at midday to gold at sunset and a wall of lit windows after dark.

Beyond the Bridge: At the eastern end you reach South Beach, its Art Deco hotels along Ocean Drive and the wide Atlantic sand beyond. Head west and the causeway lands near downtown Miami, the Arsht Center and the waterfront parks. Watson Island sits partway across, home to the marina and seaplane traffic.
