This camera sits about eight feet down beneath a private dock in the lower Florida Keys, looking out into warm, shifting shallow water. There is no beach view and no boardwalk, just the fish. Schools pass through the frame, larger shapes cruise the edges of the light, and the whole scene changes with the tide and the time of day.

Why the Lower Keys? The Keys sit alongside one of the largest reef systems in the world, and even a shallow dock piling becomes habitat here. Docks like this one attract juvenile fish looking for shade and structure, which in turn draws in the predators. It is a small window onto an ecosystem most visitors only glimpse from a snorkel mask.
