This camera looks out over the Middle Rhine Valley, where the river, the road and two of Germany's busiest railway lines share one narrow gorge. It is a railcam and a shipcam at once: barges push upstream against the current while freight trains rumble along the bank. Few places pack so much movement into a single frame.

Why the Middle Rhine? The stretch of the Rhine between Bingen and Koblenz is a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, lined with vineyards, castles and small wine villages stacked against steep slopes.
