El Dorado Restaurant
Live Cam
This camera sits on the sand at El Dorado Restaurant, looking out across Los Muertos Beach toward the sculpted white sail of Los Muertos Pier and the wide blue sweep of Banderas Bay. It is the busiest, friendliest stretch of shoreline in Puerto Vallarta, and the stream runs around the clock from the heart of the Zona Romantica.
Why Los Muertos Beach? Los Muertos is where Puerto Vallarta gathers. Water taxis load at the pier for the beaches south of town, vendors walk the sand with hats and jewellery, and loungers fill the line between the restaurants and the surf. Behind it all the hills of the Sierra Madre drop straight into the bay, and the sunsets face west over open water.
El Dorado Restaurant highlights: As you enjoy the live view, be sure to look out for:
- The Pier Silhouette: Los Muertos Pier and its tall curved mast dominate the view, especially when evening light turns the whole structure into a dark outline.
- Water Taxi Traffic: Small boats come and go from the pier all day, ferrying passengers toward Las Animas, Quimixto and Yelapa further around the bay.
- Banderas Bay Sunsets: The camera faces west, so late afternoon brings the full colour show over the water with sand and surf in the foreground.
Beyond the Beach: The Zona Romantica climbs uphill behind the sand, a dense grid of cobbled streets packed with restaurants, galleries and small hotels. The Rio Cuale and its island sit just to the north, and from there the Malecon runs along the waterfront toward the church with its crown shaped tower.
Thanks to El Dorado Restaurant for mounting this camera on their beachfront and sharing a front row seat to Los Muertos. It is a generous thing for a working oceanfront kitchen and beach club to do, and it lets anyone drop into Vallarta for a moment.
Pour something cold, open the stream in the late afternoon, and watch the water taxis thin out as the sun drops behind Banderas Bay.
