High in a tall pine above Big Bear Lake in California's San Bernardino Mountains, this wide view camera watches over one of the most followed bald eagle nests in the country. Run by Friends of Big Bear Valley, it frames the whole nest tree rather than just the bowl, so you see the eagles arriving, perching and launching out over the forest.
Why Big Bear? Resident pair Jackie and Shadow have drawn a worldwide following, and this wide angle is the one that shows their world rather than only their nest. At around 6,700 feet, the setting swings from deep snow to bright alpine sun, and the birds carry on through all of it. Few wildlife cams offer this kind of patient, uninterrupted access.

- Nest Tree Arrivals: Watch for an adult sweeping in through the branches with a fish or a fresh stick clutched in its talons.
- Snow On The Branches: Winter storms coat the pine in white, and the eagles simply sit it out, shaking powder from their feathers.
- Perch And Launch: Between nest visits the pair often sit on nearby limbs, scanning the valley before dropping into a long glide.
Beyond the Nest: Big Bear Lake sits in the San Bernardino National Forest east of Los Angeles, a mountain town known for winter skiing and summer hiking and boating. The surrounding pine forest and shoreline support ospreys, woodpeckers and other raptors, and the valley draws visitors year round for its cool air and open water.
This view is shared by Friends of Big Bear Valley and FOBBV CAM, the nonprofit team who install, maintain and monitor the equipment in demanding mountain conditions. Their careful, non-intrusive approach lets thousands of people follow these eagles without ever disturbing them, and the stream is free to watch.
